What elements of effective youth programs make them effective? Can we use information about effective components to inform program improvement efforts? In this collaborative workshop, participants will learn about practice guidelines for youth programs that were developed using a core components approach. The guidelines identify effective practices that evidence shows can reduce behavior problems and improve social competencies. This workshop is intended to provide information about the core components of successful programs for youth, but is designed to be interactive. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to brainstorm suggestions for implementing these practices, as well as potential challenges.
