I am a single mother of four children who are now 17,18, 19 and 20. That's how I started in this field 10 years ago. I grew up in the urban neighborhood and was also labeled as an at risk youth during my younger years. I am passionate about this work because I am a product of what community initiatives can do to empower and uplift the people in the community. Most expect for young adults to already have the skills and qualities needed to become successful adults without considering the struggle or roadblocks we have to surpass to get to where we need to be. A program can't be solely focused on your numbers and outcomes it has to be on the individual when dealing with at risk youth because you don't know what their struggling with or what their dealing with on a day to day basis. You can talk to me about anything dealing with youth and community empowerment, I'm embedded in this and still live, work and worship in the neighborhoods that are destined for change!
