The University of Louisville Youth Violence Prevention Research Center (YVPRC) is a Center of Excellence in Youth Violence Prevention designated and funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This center works to shift norms and narratives of violence among youth and adults in the city; historically, youth violence narratives have problematized youth and viewed violence as deviant behavior between a perpetrator and victim. Leading with Social Justice Youth Development, the YVPRC researchers act as key advisors and cultivate space for youth to realize structural violence and actualize their power in alignment with community efforts to construct liberating landscapes.
