New research shows that the adolescent years are an important developmental period for brain growth, and are a critical period for youth to develop skills and competencies. There are a wide array of factors at the individual, family, and community levels that affect this development; risk factors that increase the likelihood that youth will partake in unhealthy behaviors, as well as protective and promotive factors that help youth navigate the challenges and opportunities that they will face as adults.  This panel discussion will feature perspectives from research and practice and share more about how youth development programs can focus on developing the skills, behaviors, and beliefs that youth need to thrive.
