Young people who are encouraged and supported to actively advocate for changes to the systems they live in are developing skills that will be critically necessary to their participation in citizenship as adults. Youth workers can promote equity by providing youth with opportunities to understand problems and issues while providing methods to address them. Participants will investigate their own experiences and attitudes with youth advocacy and how these can open opportunities for youth empowerment. Participants will delve into past youth movements, what techniques were used, and how they might be applied with the youth people with whom they currently work.
